Samudra dance-theatre festival from January 24

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Samudra Performing Arts, Karamana, as part of their 10th anniversary, will conduct an International Contemporary Dance-Theatre Festival, ‘Samudra Festival 2009’, here on January 24 and 25.

Apart from Samudra, Torotoro, a traditional martial arts performance company from New Zealand, will also take part in the two-day festival.  “The highlight of the festival is the collaborative performance of Samudra and Torotoro. The new production of Samudra- ‘The Cosmic Dance of Siva’ will be also staged,” Samudra members Madhu Gopinath and Vaikom Sajeev told a press conference here on Saturday.

The contemporary dance festival, the first-of-its-kind in the State, will also have lecture demonstrations, documentary screening and learning workshops.  The venue of the festival is Tagore Theatre, Vazhuthacaud.
