KOLLAM: District Collector A. Shajahan has directed the Kollam Municipal Corporation authorities to stop the construction activities of the bus stand at Tangasseri utilising the MLA fund. He has forwarded a copy of the directive issued by the Additional Chief Secretary to the Corporation secretary on Thursday evening. The Additional chief secretary had issued a directive on March 20 to stop the construction activities on the land of the Fisheries Harbour Department. Despite the directive, the Corporation authorities continued the construction work of the retaining wall on Thursday also. Meanwhile, Kollam Jilla Paristhithi Ekopana Samithi convener Odanavattom Vijayaprakash submitted a memorandum to the District Collector demanding stoppage of construction works. According to the memorandum, the construction works were going on just a few meters away from the sea shore which would cause pollution in the sea.
