THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A diabetes awareness and control programme was organised by the Indian Medical Association, Diabetes Care Centre and The New Indian Express at the Public Library hall here. Discussing the latest trends in controlling diabetes, Dr Sreejith N Kumar said there is a need to adopt proper lifestyle through diet and exercise.

Reducing body weight will help to control or even prevent diabetes, he said. The need to fine-tune the control of diabetes by avoiding too low and high blood glucose values was also emphasised. The Diabetes Care Centre has come up with various discounts and free schemes for the patients. Dr R C Sreekumar, Dr Jayaram and Dr Veena also took classes on control of Diabetes and complications. As part of the programme, a free check-up was also held.
