VIJAYAWADA: The AP Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) has decided to carry out a special drive to verify whether the buildings under construction in the capital region are being built as per the approved plans.

On Tuesday, the Development Promotion wing of the authority inspected 18 structures being constructed at Yanamalakuduru in Vijayawada and instructed the builders of two structures, which were being built sans approvals, to stop the work immediately.

Speaking on the occasion, the director of the Development Promotion wing of CRDA, K Naga Sundari, said the special drive was aimed at creating awareness among the public regarding transparency in getting plans approved. She said open forums were being conducted for instant disposal of the plans. The special drive would be conducted across all the municipalities and corporations in the capital region, and the structures being built without approved plans would be razed down, she added.

Earlier in the day, the officials held an open forum in Yerrabalem village of the capital region and approved two applications filed seeking building permits. They said that special open forums will be held in all villages of the capital region on Tuesdays. Regular open forums for other areas will be held at the authority’s office on Fridays.
