VIJAYAWADA: Sri Durga Malleswara Swamyvarla Devasthanams (SDMSD) will conduct a large-scale Aksharabhyasam atop Indrakeeladri on June 22, marking the start of the academic year.
‘Aksharabhyasam’ or ‘Vidyarambham’ is a traditional religious function in which children are introduced to the world of alphabets. It is their first step towards formal education.
The temple authority said that free Aksharabhyasam kits will be provided to the children who participate in the ritual. “We will provide kits and give slates to the children as a token of our blessings,” a board member said.
