I'm a +1 student and I want to complete my graduation in Kolkata and take a shot at my singing/music career. I am working hard for this but my parents keep stopping me. Whenever I have an opportunity to perform somewhere, my Mom doesn't let me go because there is no one to accompany me. Dad lives in odisha and we live in Jamshedpur. I have been training in Hindustani music and I have many dreams of making it big in Bollywood. But if my parents won't cooperate what can I do?

When Confused Songstress approached us with her query. The first Vibe that hit me was her strong determination — THE WILL TO CONQUER NO MATTER WHAT!
Her challenge was simple, she wanted to become a big singer in Bollywood, but the background score in her house wasn't matching her rhythm (Pun Intended).
Her parents weren't allowing her to explore or exploit the opportunities that was coming her way due to the concerns of her safety and her being a girl. These kind of cases aren't at all new to me and generally in the end the outcome is to give it some time and work a different strategy so that the interest is not affected yet the concerns are also addressed. But, In this interaction, the determination and passion exhibited by her was so strong, I actually started thinking on a personal note, how I could support her towards her passion and which platform(s) she could utilise to create a Strong Base for herself.
I wouldn't disagree with her parents about not encouraging her to become a go-getter right away because of her age. But on the other hand, I have always preached and practiced "Follow Your Passion, Passion Pays!". She was so strong willed that it actually took me quite some time to convince her and help her create a strategy. As a Life Coach, it generally so happens that I advice, support and mentor. Here on the other hand, it was a learning to me, as I ended up listening and almost agreeing with everything she said. The point I'm trying to make is that... when an individual is determined to achieve, that energy surpasses all challenges and will ensure that you strive towards your goal.
Dear Parents, who are reading this.
My Sincere, Humble Advice to you all would be to be as supportive as you can in fuelling the Interest or Passion that your child has developed and come up with strategies in such a manner that the passion is not hampered yet your concerns are also met.
In this case, it would be great if she could be accompanied by her parents or a guardian, who can ensure her safety, become her talent manager and be her representation by being with her always. Which would prove fruitful to all.
Always remember parents, fuelling your child's passion makes them creative and LEADERS, and I'm pretty sure no one wants their child to become monotonous and spend the rest of their life as a FOLLOWER!

YES! Your father has become devastated because of some issues with his properties. The reason for this might be hurting him very badly because of which he doesn't want to disclose it or hurt you and your mother even more. This generally happens when a person loves someone too much, but cannot hurt them or doesn't want to bother them ? because of which they start suppression of issues and not talk about it to anyone, which might have had a impact on his health. The only way out which I see, is to console him that you'll earn well and keep Instilling confidence in him that... It's OK, Life has its ups and downs, you'll pass this too. On the personal front, the priority would be to focus on your job and attain higher growth, improve your lifestyle, which will automatically boost his confidence and health, and will also ensure that you buy all that he has lost. Hey, since you somewhere feel that he has a crush on you, you should first find out whether your intuition about him liking you is true. Then spend more time with each other, and see if both of feel the same way, who's gonna ask first is the million dollar question (Pun intended). So once you spend more time if he's focused on you, great, but if he shows signs of restlessness or wants to go ASAP... Then I'm afraid your intuition is wrong.

My daughter is studying III year B.Com. She is preparing for CA foundation course also. I want her to specialise in some special course. What can she do next? Kindly advise!

Hi, Please do not get me wrong... But I would suggest that you allow her to finish these courses first. And then think about other courses. As a CA foundation course by itself is a wonderful add on to her B.Com. Then if you're interested in making her pursue a Master's degree, you can allow her to choose and specialise based on her interest. But by judging her current track, she might excel in Subjects like Financial Management, Taxation etc. I say this, as it wouldn't be a very good idea to burden her with too many things, and burn her out. If she's willing still to take up some other course, you can maybe allow her to to do some distance education courses for an added value. You Could also visit the VSkills website which is a GoI Initiative that is great.

Hi, This definitely is a trick question. Getting appreciated either requires you to overperform or be loud about whatever little that you do, in the sense you should have good communication skills and people management skills that'll help spread the word about your work. If you're good at both and are still not getting recognised, there definitely should be a gap either in communication or performance. Work that out and see if it helps!
