Rahul Datta ran a chain of coffee shops in Kolkata. Anand Singhi was climbing the rungs in the banking sector. Both of them had no connection to renting houses, up until the time they crafted Hunt4Flat — an app that knocks the broker out of the house-hunting game and schedules visits ever-so-simply. With a casual, game-style approach, all you have to do is click ‘Visit a house right now’ and multiple properties near you, meeting your specs pop up immediately. The app also gives you the most recent transaction history of the house you’re looking at.
Last year, Rahul and Anand set out to change the way people rent homes simply because it was that much of a pain. Hunt4Flat, their brainchild, funded by an angel investor, did that in a simple and hassle-free way. “It may be time to bid adieu to the age-old method of looking through the yellow pages, explaining your requirement to multiple real estate agents, and still not get a response,” says Anand. The app wasn't developed overnight though, admits Rahul. They first launched a website for Hunt4Flat in March 2015, which bombed. They were discouraged but then decided to give it one proper shot. So they went all in and after months of dedicated coding, in January 2016, Hunt4Flat was reborn as a mobile app. “Since then, the response has been overwhelming,” he says, adding that the app has helped over 4,500 people find homes and flatmates. “Finding a house in busy cities across India is such a relieving process, we get thank-you notes all the time,” says Anand, smiling.
All you need to do is fill in details across categories like location and budget — their algorithm auto-matches relevant houses that meet all your requirements, and bam! You’re instantly connected to property holders of the house. “Our interface is very intuitive, and we spent a lot of time thinking about what people looking for houses actually need,” he explains. That’s where Hunt4Flat really scores, “Customers want quick responses, quick solutions, and immediate follow-up. If you do that, you’re good to go,” adds Rahul.
Why is Hunt4Flat a Real Estate Bombshell?
You get a swift reply from the property holder The response time can be as short as 30 seconds If you love a house but it’s taken, the app will send notifications when it’s vacant
