LONDON: Hollywood star Brad Pitt and his partner Angelina Jolie donated over $6.8 million to various charities in 2008.

The couple's Jolie-Pitt Foundation earned over $13 million last year, reported contactmusic.com.

A tax return obtained for the organisation shows half that amount was donated to charities, including $2 million to non-profit Global Health, $1 million to both Human Rights Watch and Pitt's Make it Right Foundation -- a fund created to help build homes in hurricane-ravaged New Orleans, Louisiana.

They also gave $500,000 to the Armed Services YMCA (The Young Men's Christian Association), $50,000 to public schools in Pitt's native Springfield, Missouri and approximately $1 million to projects in Cambodia.
