KOODLU Ramakrishna, who directed Tamashegaagi two years ago, is almost ready with with another film Karavali Hudugi which is based the eponymous novel by Bilumane Ramadas.
Shooting for its talkie portion was completed recently.
Speaking to Expresso, Ramakrishna said that he was confident of the success of Karavali Hudugi at the box office despite the failure of his earlier films Tamashegaagi and Chilipili Hakkigalu. He had made news by roping in five housewives as producers for Tamaashegaagi.
However, the housewives did not evince interest in continuing as producers after the film crashed at the box office. “I have done everything necessary to ensure the success of Karaavali Hudugi. It has everything that could entertain the audience,” Ramakrishna said.
Recently, a song from the film was picturised on Dwarakeesh, Om Prakash Rao and Tara at Sri Kanteerava Studios. “Three directors - Dwarakeesh, Om Prakash Rao and Joe Simon - are acting in this film. Tara, who is known for her dancing skills, is appearing in a song sequence,” Ramakrishna said.
Elaborating on the script, he said that its story revolves around a girl from the Dalit community who starts a hotel at a village and goes on to narrate the troubles she goes through to run the hotel and how the upper caste people in the village embarrass her.
“Neethu and Mohan are the hero and heroine, respectively in this sentimental film. It is my 14th novel-based film out of the 22 films directed so far,” Ramakrishna said.
He said that he has plans to direct two more films Kathe and Swathimale shortly. “The shooting for Swathimale will commence from April in which Diganth, Prem and Neethu are playing the lead roles. I am looking for the second heroine for this film. Its shooting will start at New Jersey in the USA,” the director said.
Karavali Hudugi will hit the silver screen “shortly”, he said.
“We will complete the postproduction work as early as possible and release it by next month end.” We asked him how it felt to direct directors in this film.
“They are very cooperative. Being directors, they know what I expect from them. They did well,” Ramakrishna signed off.
