It is now confirmed that actor Naren will star in the Malayalam remake of one of Kamal Haasan’s biggest blockbusters in Tamil, ‘Kakki Sattai’ (1985). While director Shaji Kailash is making the movie in Malayalam, the actor clarified that the film is not a complete remake of the original version.
He says, “I’m playing the lead role in the movie. The storyline has been adapted from the original version. The news just got confirmed and I will be meeting the director in 10 days.”
Kamal Haasan had donned the role of a cop in the movie and Naren is all excited to reprise it, as Kamal is one his favourite actors. Says he, “Kamal Haasan is one of the reason why I accepted the offer. It was quite unexpected and I hope to do justice to his role.”
At present, the actor is shooting for director Mysskin’s ‘Mugamoodi’, in which is he playing a baddie opposite Jiiva, and will start his Malayalam project, ‘Grand Master’, with Mohanlal soon. It should be noted that Mysskin introduced Naren in Tamil with ‘Chithiram Pesudhadi’.
“I’m doing only one Tamil project for now,” says Naren. “We’ve completed 25 per cent of the film. My portions have come out well, and I look completely different in the film. Mysskin is introducing a new kind of film to the industry. There is lot of martial arts, and both Jiiva and I will be performing Kung fu too,” he added.
Naren informed that the shooting of ‘Grand Master’ will start in a few days and added that it would be the first time that he will be doing two films at a time.
