Why is the Billa-II crew yet to launch its audio, is perhaps the question on the lip of every Thala fan. With shoot for the Ajith-Parvathy Omanakuttan starrer wrapped in early March, why are the filmmakers yet to launch the album, featuring music by Yuvan Shankar Raja? Especially when the film is said to hit screens in May.
The reason, according to informed sources, is the availability of the chief guests of the event. The producers have reportedly approached both the Superstar Rajinikanth and Oscar winner AR Rahman to launch the film’s soundtrack. Both Rajini and the Isai Puyal are currently in London, where shoot is on for the Superstar’s next, Kochadaiyaan. Rajini is expected to return in early-April, after which the audio launch could be held.
It may be recalled that Ajith’s Billa of 2007 was a modern adaptation of the blockbuster of the same name in 1980, in which the Superstar played the titular role. The Superstar had given his go-ahead to Ajith to remake the film, and had also participated in the film’s launch, and attended a preview. His friendship with Ajith was reiterated when he agreed to launch Ajith’s Asal, back in 2010. It is not known if Rajini and Rahman have agreed to participate in the launch.
When contacted, co-producer of the film Sunir Kheterpal maintained that these reports were rumours.
