IANS

CHENNAI: Actress Anupama Kumar, who will be seen as a dark character for the first time in her career in upcoming Tamil film "Oru Oorla Rendu Raja", says the role shocked her when she found out it was inspired by someone in real life.

"This is the first time I'm playing a negative character. It's a very black character and not a grey character. I was shocked to know that there are people like that because the director has taken inspiration from a true character," Anupama told IANS.

Known mostly for essaying strong character and mother roles, Anupama, said she had to struggle hard to play the part in "Oru Oorla Rendu Raja".

"I had to put in lot of effort to make it look believable. It didn't come naturally to me and it definitely wasn't that easy to pull it off," she said.

Anupama is currently awaiting the release of Tamil films "Meegaamann" and "Valiyavan". She also has independent film "My Son is Gay" readying for release.
