The reported engagement of actor Trisha with business magnate and film producer Varun Manian has been the hot topic of discussion for the past few days. The social media is rife with speculation and photos, allegedly taken at their hush-hush ring exchange ceremony. Several media reports have appeared about the supposed engagement of the duo. Though Trisha  tweeted a denial and her mother Uma Krishnan said that there was no truth in the matter to CE, the alleged beau Varun had maintained a stoic silence all along.

Varun, a leading businessman in the city, is active on Twitter and had ample opportunity to state his side of the story when photos of Trisha and himself were being circulated on the Internet. Though CE attempted to contact him on Monday evening and again on Tuesday morning, we received no response. Varun decided to break his silence on Wednesday. In a reply to CE, he said,  “The engagement is not true.” When asked why he didn’t reply earlier to queries on the matter, he said, “Sorry, my phone was either  switched off or on silent mode at other times.” When CE asked him to explain the rumours linking the two, Varun chose not to comment. “It’s best if Trish talks about it,” he said.

Meanwhile, as response to one of Trisha’s posts — a photo of her photoshoot for a bridal magazine captioned ‘Vivah magazine shoot..’ — her alleged beau Varun tweeted, ‘Looking absolutely stunning Trish’. That the photo shoot and the subsequent compliment centred around a bridal magazine could be one more factor that may set off wedding bell rumours again!
