Express News Service

Manjapai, a Tamil comedy drama by debutant director N Raghavan, which received critical acclaim after its release last year, is now being remade in Kannada as Mr Mommaga. Raghavan will be helming the film for the Kannada version too and Malavalli Saikrishna has written the story.

The film, which focusses on a grandfather and grandson relationship, will portray the versatile actor, Rangayana Raghu in a different light. “The director opted for Rangayana Raghu to play the role of the grandfather after watching him act in Duniya. He is already getting ready for the film and has started to grow his beard to fit his character,” says Saikrishna.

Ravi who is also the producer of the film and Tamil actress Oviya will play the leads. This will be Oviya’s second film in Kannada after Kirataka. “Ravi, who is debuting with this film, wanted to enter tinsel town long ago but was looking for a good launch pad. He thought Mr Mommaga was the right choice. The film also features Sadhu Kokila and Avinash also,” reveals Saikrishna.
