Express News Service

Over 20 years after Amaran (1992) made the cash registers ring after 100 days at the box office, its sequel with the same director-hero combination – K Rajeshwar and Karthik – will soon hit theatres. Karthik, who will don the role of a hero, is making his appearance on the big screen after a long hiatus. He had played the villain in the recent release Anegan). Amaran-2’s poster, which was released recently, has Karthik sporting a gansgster-like look and smoking a cigarette — hoping to recreate the impact of its prequel.

Announcing the launch of the sequel that is set to be a comeback of the actor, director K Rajeshwar spoke of the winning combination then, and the friendship between them that made them collaborate again. About the film, he promised an extravagant entertainment that conveys a message. It would be shot at locales in London, Italy and Malaysia as well. Karthik, who concurred that the camaraderie shared between them was a reason for Amaran 2, said that the script of Amaran warranted a sequel and there were proposals earlier to work on the sequel. “Although it’s been a long gap between both the films, we thought it fit to work on the sequel now. I have performed in other films where even if my role had a limited scope, I was appreciated for it. For this film, I will give my best and besides acting, I will go on to sing in the movie as well,” he said. Asked if he would be competition to his son Gautham Karthik, he said, “Certainly not,” adding that the huge reception online was heartwarming.
