On Tamil New Year’s Day, actor-director Raghava Lawrence began the construction work of a school he is building for the underprivileged. It is being constructed on one acre of land near Poonamallee.

A source close to the actor claims, “Raghava sir, through his trust, has been sponsoring the education of 60 children in government schools and 200 children in private schools. The land on which his school is coming up is also owned by the trust. Initially, the school will have classes from pre- KG to Class 5 and education will be free. Once, he has more funds, he plans to have classes upto Class 12.”

The source adds, “Lawrence master was finding it tough to pay the fees of so many students each year, and he thought of building a school. He felt that with the money he paid as fees, he could pay good salaries to teachers. He now plans to hold a star dance show to collect funds to build this school.”
