Uday Kiran finds Meera Jasmine very talented

Uday Kiran is mighty impressed by the acting prowess of his 'Penn Singam' co-star

From our online archive

Telugu actor Uday Kiran is the hero of the new Tamil film 'Penn Singam' (female lion). Meera Jasmine is his co-star and the dialogues of the film were written by the Tamilnadu Chief Minister Mu Karunanidhi .

Uday plays the role of a forest officer in the film. This is his third film in Tamil.

"I was fortunate to have bagged the role of the protagonist in a Tamil movie directed by K Balachander. My second film in Tamil was 'Vambu Sandai' directed by Raj Kapoor. When i eventually started working in 'Penn Singam', I didnt have any problem with the language," he said when asked about his familiarity with Tamil.

Co-star Meera Jasmine

"She is an extremely talented performer, spontaneous and a thorough professional. She is a competitive actress. Her strength lies in her performance and she does it with ease. This helps me give my best to every shot," he said.

Differnces between Telugu and Tamil cinema

The work patterns in the two industries are the same. But there is quite a difference when it comes to the acceptance of characters and the backdrops used in the movies. In Tamil, the characters portrayed are rustic and more realistic. In Telugu industry, the movies are based on commercial viability and are slot into specific themes like action, family dramas and youth-centric and we keep alternating between these three.

Dream role

I would like to do the role of Kamal in 'Salangai Oli', which was made in Telugu as 'Sagara Sangamam'.

If not an actor…

Such a thought has never occurred to me. Ever since I was a child, I was fascinated by films.
