HYDERABAD: Come September, citizens needing water tankers will have to shell out more as Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) has announced increase in tariff rates. The increased rates will come into effect from September 1. This time, the water board did not spare any consumer and decided to increase tariff rates on all categories — domestic, commercial, industrial and industrial water-based consumers.

The revised rates for domestic trip for 5 KL tanker will be `600 as against the present `400, for 10 KL tanker it will be `1,150 as against present ` 800. For commercial trips, the 5 KL tanker will cost `900 as against present `700. For 10 KL tanker, the new price will be `1,750 as against existing `1,400 per tanker. Officials said the revision would not affect the common man as water supplied through the tankers is only of miniscule percentage of the supplies which have been improved after the Krishna and Godavari augmentation phases.
