LUCKNOW: Continuing its search operations for the second consecutive day in Lucknow  and more than 12 other cities on Saturday, the CBI took six medical officials, including Chief Medical Officers, into custody.

The CBI is investigating the `5,000-crore NRHM scandal, which has already ‘claimed’ the lives of six persons in the state, and more than  100 government officials and politicians, including IAS officials, CMOs, two former ministers, four MLAs and MLCs, are under the scanner. The agency on Saturday raided 23 new places in 12 districts, including Patna in Bihar, and Shravasti, Behraich, Gonad and other places in UP. No new case has been registered on Saturday. The CBI is closing in on the key aides of the two former Health Ministers, Babu Singh Kushwaha and Anant Kumar Mishra, and the drug and medical equipment suppliers here and other districts.

Meanwhile, the CBI has found trails of the ill-gotten money to China, where one of the drug supplier has invested heavily. Relatives of one of the Varanasi-based drug suppliers have clandestinely visited China many times in the recent past.
