RANCHI: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday raided at least 25 locations linked to people involved in illegal coal mining and associated illicit businesses in Dhanbad. According to reports, the ED teams have been conducting operations since 6 am.
As per the information received so far, several ED teams simultaneously raided multiple locations, including Nalanda Cottage in Dhanbad, an apartment in Saraidhela, Katras, Tikiyapada, Mahuda, Loyabad and Jharia.
The premises under scanner are linked to coal traders LB Singh, Anil Goyal, Ganesh Yadav, Pappu Mandal, Anup Chauhan and Harendra Chauhan, as well as former Assembly election candidate Rohit Yadav and their associates.
The ED is carrying out the operation as part of a major crackdown on an alleged network involved in illegal coal mining, transportation and storage.
The agency has registered four separate Enforcement Case Information Reports (ECIRs) to investigate the case and suspects that substantial assets were accumulated through proceeds of the illegal coal trade.
During the searches, officials are scrutinising financial records, transaction documents and other key evidence to trace the money trail and uncover the full extent of the alleged network. The investigation is also aimed at identifying the individuals involved and determining their specific roles in the operation.
Earlier, on November 21, 2025, around 20 locations in Dhanbad and Dumka linked to LB Singh and his associates were raided by the ED. At that time, the agency recovered Rs 2.20 crore in cash, over 150 land documents and significant evidence related to the illegal coal trade.
