Ferrari dad held for abusing SI

Express News Service

After movie star Kalabhavan Mani, it is now the turn of ‘Ferrari dad’, a Thrissur-based businessman arrested earlier for posting the footage of his under-age son driving a Ferrari on the video-sharing website YouTube, to hog the limelight for the wrong reasons. He was arrested again for misbehaving with a woman sub-inspector on duty, while a routine vehicle check-up was being conducted by her in Thrissur on Friday.

The incident took place at Shakthan Nagar around 10.30 pm, when the sub-inspector stopped a newly-registered Rolls Royce car. When Mohammed Nisham, 37, the owner of the car, stopped the car in the middle of the road, the cop asked him to park the vehicle on the roadside. When he refused to do so, the cop subjected him to a breathalyser test in which he tested positive. Objecting to the checkup, Nisham picked up a quarrel with the police personnel. When the cop asked him to step out of the car, he refused and caught hold of the cop’s waist belt and yanked her inside the car, before locking the car with his remote control.

The inebriated man also hurled lewd comments at her in front of his wife, who was also seated in the car, SI Devi stated in her complaint.

Two policemen who were present at the site tried to intervene but were pushed aside as well. More police personnel had to be summoned to the spot and they took Nisham into custody and registered a non-bailable case under sections 353, 354, 294 (B), 506 (1), 279 and 185 of the IPC.

According to Lalkumar, sub inspector,  Thrissur police station, the accused has been a regular offender. As many as seven cases including a murder attempt have been registered against him at various police stations in the state since 2005. The police produced him at the judicial first class magistrate court in Thrissur and the court remanded him in judicial custody for 14 days.

Earlier, Peramangalam police had registered a case against Nisham under various sections of the the Juvenile Justice Act and Motor Vehicles act. Besides, he is facing trail in several cases including a case registered under the IT Act for writing derogatory comments against his cousin’s wife on Facebook.
