LUCKNOW: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati had on Monday called an all-India level emergency meeting in Lucknow on the party’s ignominious show in the recent LS election, but barring a few superficial measures, she also avoided any major decision.

The BSP cadre are dissatisfied with the manner in which the BSP fielded 21 Brahmins on the recommendation of party general secretary Satish Chand Mishra, and 19 Muslims on the report of party leader Nasimuddin Siddiqui, but the party drew a blank.

However, Mayawati refrained from seeking any explanation from them. Both of them proved ineffective in the campaigning as well, as Nasimuddin failed to ensure the victory of his son, who contested from Fatehpur. The kith and kin of the two leaders are well placed in the party and held key positions in the previous BSP government as well. Mayawati has removed half-a-dozen zonal coordinators and disbanded party committees.
