LUCKNOW: Chief judicial magistrate Sandhya Srivastava on Monday issued a bailable warrant against former UP minister Azam Khan for allegedly using inappropriate language against IPS officer Amitabh Thakur at a news conference held in Rampur on November 29, 2015. The order came based on a complaint filed by Thakur alleging that Azam had called him a “third-rated person” and “a blot on the administrative system”.

The court had issued summons to Azam Khan under Sections 500, 505 and 505 IPC, but Azam did not appear before the court. Observing that enough efforts had been made to serve a summons on Azam, the court issued a bailable warrant with Rs 10,000 personal bond against him. The court set the date for next hearing on May 10.
