SRINAGAR: Train service resumed on Tuesday after remaining suspended for a day due to security reasons in the Kashmir valley, where separatists had called for a general strike against civilian deaths in security force action and Cordon and Search Operations (CASO).

This was the third time train service was suspended in the Kashmir valley since the imposition of Governor's rule in the state following resignation by then Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti after its alliance partner BJP pulled out from the government.

''We have resumed all train runs today in the Kashmir valley,'' a senior railway official told UNI. He said a fresh advisory was received from police last night to resume train service on all routes.

Therefore, he said, trains will run on Srinagar-Badgam and Baramulla in north Kashmir track as per schedule. Similarly, trains will also chug on Badgam-Srinagar, Anantnag-Qazigund in south Kashmir to Banihal in Jammu region, he said.

Earlier, train service was resumed only on Sunday after remaining suspended on Saturday. We are acting on the advice of police to suspend or resume the train service in the valley.
