Customer slices off bike mechanic's ear over Rs 1500 at Baishnabnagar in West Bengal

KOLKATA: A man allegedly sliced off an ear of a motorbike mechanic after he demanded the due amount of Rs 1500 from the accused.

Bike mechanic Sujan Singh had repaired the motorbike of Liton Singh a year ago but he had not paid the due amount of Rs 1500 and promised to pay it later. However, despite several reminders, the accused deferred the payment.

When the mechanic again approached the Liton Singh for the amount on Thursday, an argument ensued but the locals intervened and broke it up. However, Liton allegedly took a few men and attacked Sujan in the evening and cut off a portion of his right ear.

Hearing the cries of the Sujan Singh, local residents reached the spot after which the accused fled the area. The victim has been admitted to Malda Medical College and Hospital. The victim's family has lodged an FIR at Baishnabnagar police station and an investigation has been initiated.

The accused are absconding and a manhunt has been launched.
