JAIPUR: A woman journalist-cum-social activist, Manju Surana, has alleged that self-styled ‘godman’ Daati Maharaj, accused of raping a young devotee in his ashram, had been running a prostitution racket at Pali in Rajasthan.

In a complaint under 156(3) filed in the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate’s (ACJM) court in Sojat town of Pali district, Surana said she had gone to the ashram because of her religious beliefs but became aware of the misdeeds taking place there.

The court has asked police to submit a factual report on the matter.

In her complaint filed in the ACJM’s court in Sojat town of Pali, Surana said that in the ashram, Daati used to pose as a Krishna Avtaar and a devotee of Shani.

Taking advantage of the “Beti padhao, Beti Bachao campaign” run by the government he used to enroll girl students in his ashram and then rape them.
