CHENNAI: A new MP3 album, Centurion, that has hit the shelves in Chennai pays a rich tribute to all things cricket and assures ardent fans that memory of past Indian cricket maestros lives on. The man who brought out the album, KR Ramakrishnan, is a company secretary with a deep passion for the game and hopes the album fuels the passion for the game in the country.

“I have portrayed cricket, which in itself is a religion in India, in this music album in such a manner that an ardent fan can learn cricket, live cricket, play and sleep cricket,” he said in a press release.

Many will know him for his other contribution — setting up the Cricket Ganesha temple in the city. In the temple, Lord Ganesha holds a cricket bat and a cricket ball. In March, he had released Cricket 70, an album that also included his 100th song, aptly sung in honour of batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar.

Tendulkar is also among the overarching themes of the Centurion, a tri-lingual (English, Tamil and Hindi) music album in the MP3 format.

Besides, the album pays tribute to former cricketers Poly Umrigar, Chandu Borde, Sunil Gavaskar, Ajit Wadekar, Kapil Dev, Mohammad Azharuddin, Tendulkar and the spinning trio (Prasanna, Bedi Venkat and Chandra) and recalls memories of cricketers’ sterling performances for the country such as Anil Kumble’s 10 wicket haul at Feroze Shah Kotla.

Some songs also discuss the technique, principles and the spirit behind the game. Ramakrishnan is confident the album will serve as a source of comfort for the fans of Men In Blue. The Centurion has six English songs, eight Hindi songs and 62 Tamil songs in its fold of 76 songs. It is priced at Rs.100.
