Commonwealth Games: Para swimmer Vaishnavi finishes sixth in S8 50m freestyle final

Vaishnavi clocked a timing of 42.03 seconds to finish sixth out of seven swimmers in the final at the Optus Aquatic Centre.

GOLD COAST: Indian para swimmer Vaishnavi Vinod Jagtap finished sixth in the final of women's S8 50 metre Freestyle at the 21st Commonwealth Games here on Tuesday.

Vaishnavi clocked a timing of 42.03 seconds to finish sixth out of seven swimmers in the final at the Optus Aquatic Centre here.

Australia's Lakeisha Patterson won the final, registering 30.14 seconds while Silver went to Morgan Bird of Canada with a timing of 32.03. Canada's Abigail Tripp settled for bronze, clocking 32.49.

Earlier, Vaishnavi managed to enter the final with a time of 41.63 seconds. The Indian was 10.22 seconds adrift of Australia's Lakeisha Patterson, who topped the Heat, registering 31.41 seconds.
