BENGALURU: India coach Anil Kumble said dropping Ajinkya Rahane and trying triple centurion Karun Nair was not a thing they would do.

“There’s no question of dropping Rahane, because he has scored really well and had a couple of extremely successful years,” said Kumble on Thursday.

“It’s unfortunate Karun has missed out after the triple hundred. That’s the way the composition of the team has been, and we’ve looked to play five bowlers," he added.

Rahane didn't have a great series against England and was eventually ruled out with a fractured hand, while he managed just 13 and 18 in the opening Test against Australia in Pune, which India lost by 333 runs. In total, he has scored 204 runs in his last five matches.
