HYDERABAD: TDP leader and former minister T Srinivas Yadav reportedly decided to quit the party and join the Congress. Having taken a decision to quit the TDP, Srinivas Yadav has intentionally raked up the controversy over the party supporting the separate Telangana State. He insisted that the party should change its stand and stick to Unified Andhra State.

Srinivas Yadav met Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy yesterday but later denied having talked anything political with the Chief Minister. Srinivas Yadav, reportedly, got an assurance from Rajasekhara Reddy that once he switches the sides, he would be the Congress Party’s Mayoral candidate for the forthcoming GHMC polls.

Srinivas Yadav’s political future was also assured by the Chief Minister.

Srinivas Yadav was persuated by ministers D Nagendar, Mukesh Goud and N Raghuveera Reddy to join the Congress.

But Srinivas would wait for some more time to make his announcement official.

At an informal meeting with his followers and supporters, Srinivas Yadav made adverse remarks against TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu by describing him as a leader without courage. He held Naidu responsible for the defeat of the party. Srinivas Yadav firmly felt that the people in Telangana region have rejected the T issue. ``I am not raising the issue with a selfish motto. I am only trying to protect the party’s future,’’ he reportedly observed.

Meanwhile, Chandrababu Naidu called an emergency meeting at his residence with party senior leaders Yerran Naidu, Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, Nagam Janardhan Reddy and Arvind Kumar Goud and others to take stock of the situation.

The TDP leadership decided not to react on the issue.
