HYDERABAD: The death of former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy in a helicopter crash on Sept 2 has resulted in the death of as many as 344 persons in incidents of shock and suicide in the State.

Of those, 46 were cases of suicide and 298 of heart attack, according to Kadapa MP Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy. In all, about 358 incidents, including 14 suicide attempts, were reported from various districts in the state.

In a press release here today, Jagan Mohan Reddy said the highest number of incidents took place in Warangal district wherein five people have committed suicide, 41 died of cardiac arrest and seven attempted to commit suicide. Of them, five cases were registered in respect of suicide deaths, one with regard to attempt to suicide and no cases were registered in respect of heart attack incidents.

No incidents were reported from the state capital (Hyderabad).

Of the total 358 incidents, 34 cases were registered in respect of suicide deaths, three and two cases were registered in respect of heart attacks and suicide attempts, respectively.
