VIJAYAWADA: With complaints pouring in regarding the LPG delivery boys fleecing customers demanding ‘tips’ in addition to the bill amount, the State government has directed the dealers of gas agencies to curb the menace or be ready to face action. Stating that dealers will give salaries to delivery boys, Civil Supplies Minister P Pulla Rao said there is no need for customers giving tips and wanted the dealers to sensitise the customers on the issue.

During a meeting with officials of civil supplies and weights and measurements department and representatives of gas agencies at the Interim Government Complex in Velagapudi on Friday, the minister said door delivery charges would be paid by the respective oil companies. The government would initiate action against the dealers if found collecting any extra charges from customers.

The minister also said the delivery boys should also take a weighing machine to weigh the LPG cylinder in front of customers while delivering it. Pulla Rao appealed to the customers to lodge complaints regarding the collection of any extra money on delivering LPG cylinder by making a call to Parishkara Vedika (1100 toll-free number).
