VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will formally hand over the newly completed multi-storey residential quarters for MLAs and MLCs to the General Administration Department (GAD) on August 13, Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana announced on Tuesday along with Cabinet colleagues Anagani Satya Prasad and S Savitha.
‘The announcement came during an extensive joint inspection of ongoing capital projects, where the ministers reviewed progress at the iconic Secretariat, High Court, and Head of Department (HOD) towers, as well as ministerial bungalows and major arterial road networks across the capital region.
Addressing reporters, Revenue Minister Anagani Satya Prasad highlighted that the coalition government completed the legislator residential complexes within two years of assuming office.
Outlining the overall capital roadmap, BC Welfare Minister S Savitha announced that Phase 1 of Amaravati’s administrative core—including the main Secretariat, High Court, and Assembly towers — is slated for complete commissioning by August 2028.
The visit coincides with major decisions taken during the 64th Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) Authority meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naidu on Tuesday.
Announcing the resolutions, MA&UD Minister Narayana revealed that the APCRDA approved a series of high-value infrastructure and technology initiatives, including awarding a `1,205-crore contract to L&T for two 18-storey Quantum Valley towers, floating tenders for a 20-MW data centre hub, and sanctioning 5G telecom tower deployments across 20 strategic locations in the capital.
The APCRDA board sanctioned a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) cable car ropeway project linking the Vijayawada Railway Station, Pandit Nehru Bus Stand, Kanaka Durga Temple, Punnamis Ghat, Bhavani Island, and the Venkateswara Swamy Temple at Venkatayapalem.
The board formally accepted the resolution adopted by Motadaka village to hand over 2,340 acres for the Inner Ring Road (IRR) and railway network, approved depositing `122 crore to pool 244.39 acres of endowment lands in Palnadu district, ratified loan arrangements for the recent `300-crore farmers’ annuity payout, and secured a fee waiver from AP RERA to resume the Happy Nest housing project.
To support long-term regional integration, the APCRDA decided to appoint a consultant to study future bridge requirements across the Krishna River to connect Amaravati, Vijayawada, and Guntur into a unified ‘Mega City’ targeting a 1-crore population, with a feasibility report due to be completed in three months.
