Express News Service

Parents of arrested Indian Mujahideen co-founder Yasin Bhatkal, who finally received a fax from Delhi police on Friday night, decided to convene a meeting of their relatives and community leaders in Bhatkal on Sunday in order to take a decision on whether legal assistance should be provided or not.

The faxed message received at Bhatkal police station detailed Yasin’s identity and arrest. “We don’t know about Yasin, but the photo and other identity marks in the fax match with the details of my brother Ahmed Siddibapa and we have confirmed this to the police,” Yasin’s brother Samad told reporters.

“Yasin’s father has confidence in the judiciary. He has said that his son, if involved in terror cases should be hanged. But if Yasin is innocent, he had to be saved,” family advocate Razvi said quoting Zarar Siddibapa.

According to police records, Yasin became more active after his escape to Pakistan in 2008. His name also cropped up in the Pune German Bakery blast case and Lumbini blast case in Hyderabad also, sources added.

Police said Yasin was directly involved in Chinnaswamy Stadium blast during the 2010 IPL series.
