Rivalry over education society suspected in Yogish's murder

Express News Service

DHARWAD: The murder of Yogishgouda has its roots in the proprietorship of Yogishwar Education Society at Morab in Navalagund taluk, feels a section of people who have watched such incidents connected to his family over the years. They feel that the age-old enmity exists even today and recall the murder of Chandrashekhar Kalwad in Morab village.

This was followed by the brutal murder of Yogish’s brother Udaygouda Goudar (in whose name Yogish was running the gymnasium) near Tapovan in the Dharwad suburban police limits.

Later zilla panchayat menber Hanchinal, who was the main accused in Udaygouda’s murder, was killed at Somapur on the Navalgund Road. Police had arrested  a number of people in connection with the case.

Though this was followed by a compromise between rival groups over the propreitorship of Yogishwar Education Society, the enmity did not end there.  Surprisingly, Yogishgouda’s murder too has taken place in Dharwad suburban police station limits.

Police say that the house in which Yogishgouda was residing at Gandhi Chowk in Dharwad too was attacked by a group of people earlier.

Later Yogish’s brother Gurunathgouda was involved in a clash with another group at the Corporation Circle in Dharwad.
