BENGALURU: Congress MLA N A Haris has accused the media and opposition BJP of trying to cripple his stint in public life. In an open letter circulated through WhatsApp, Haris assured his cooperation to the police in investigation of the case.

“In view of Saturday night’s unfortunate incident involving my son and Vidvat, I would like to apologise to Vidvat, his parents (again) and the citizens of Bengaluru. What happened on Saturday night is extremely unfortunate and should not have happened,” Haris stated in his letter.

While his son defied arrest and proved elusive for over 36 hours, Haris claimed, “I myself have surrendered my son Mohammed Nalapad Haris to the Cubbon Park police. At this point I am taken aback at how the media is only trying to stress on this issue and cripple my 9.9 years of dedication, devotion and faithful service and result proven work towards the development of my Shantinagar constituency. It also is sad to see how low an extent the opposition party has played their part in the given situation.”
“I strongly emphasise that the law is the same for all of us and we will adhere to the investigation process and give our 100% cooperation,” he said.
