ANGAMALY: The recently renovated Our Lady of Dolours Church, which was instrumental in the overall growth of Mookkannoor village near Angamaly since 1899, was re-consecrated by Ernakulam Auxiliary Bishop Mar Thomas Chakiath last Sunday.
The church was the source of inspiration for the launch of the internationally acclaimed religious congregation CST in the small village of Mookkannoor.
Thabore Church and Kokkunnu Church, under the Mookkannoor Parish Church, were made independent parish churches later.
Fr Job Kelamparambil and Fr Antony Nangelimalil are the vicar and co-vicar of the church respectively. P E Jose Pallimattom and P P Antony Palatty are the trustees.
Justice Kurien Joseph inaugurated the public meeting held in connection with the blessing of the renovated Church. Metropolitan Elias Mar Athanasios delivered the blessing speech. Fr Jose Kallarackal presided. Jose Thettayil MLA released the souvenir.
P J Joy, Eliyakutty Antony, Rev Varghese Manjaly, Fr Antony Perumayan, Paul Kaiparambatan, Jose Madassery, Fr Job Kelamparambil, and P J Louis spoke.
The main festival of the Our Lady of Dolours formally commenced on Friday with Fr Varghese Njaliath hoisting the flag in the evening.
Bishop Mar Sebastian Idayanthrath was the chief celebrant of the ordination ceremony of Rev Deacon Martin Puthussery SJ on Thursday.
The festival will conclude with the celebrated high Mass led by Fr John Painunkal at 10 am on Sunday, followed by homily by Msgr Raphael Thattil, a religious procession and related rituals.
