GURUVAYUR: The Sahasrakalasam and Brahmakalasam abhishekam rituals heralding the 10-day annual festival at the Sree Krishna temple here will be performed on Friday.
The thantric preparation of the kalasams are being carried out at the temple koothambalam.
As many as 1000 kalasams comprising of 975 silver pots and 25 golden pots filled with various dravyams are being prepared for the ritual.
Temple Thantri Chennas Raman Namboothiripad, Chennas Vasudevan Namboothiripad and Chennas Satheesan Namboothiripad assisted by temple Othikkans are leading the preparation of the kalasams for the ritual.
The Kalasabhishekam will be performed prior to the Uchcha pooja.
The Thathwakalasam abhishekam was performed on the idol on Thursday.
Anayottam and flag hoisting
The annual festival at the Sree Krishna temple will begin with anayottam and the hoisting of festival flag on Saturday.
Selected elephants will participate in the anayottam from Manjulal premises to the temple.
The flag will be hoisted in the night.
The Guruvayur Devaswom has made elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the festival.
Security arrangements
The security at the Sree Krishna temple has been beefed up owing to the festival. The Guruvayur police have made arrangements to contain the heavy rush of devotees.
A police team led by DySPs T K Thomas, V Radhakrishnan and Guruvayur circle-inspector S Abhilash will monitor the security arrangements.
Round-the-clock patrolling and a police aid post will be made available at the temple premises, said Kunnamkulam DySP T K Thomas.
