MALAPPURAM: A hoax bomb threat forced the Southern Railway authorities to detain the Thiruvananthapuram- Mangalore Parasuram Express at Parappanangadi station for more than two hours on Thursday afternoon. The anonymous threat call was received by the station master at Feroke station around 2.45 p.m, saying an explosion would occur soon after the train reached the station.

The railway authorities immediately passed on the information to stop the train at Parappanangadi station. By the time the information was received by the train driver, it had left the Kuttippuram station.

The police, bomb squad and RPF officials rushed to the Parappanangadi station to conduct a search.
