Express News Service

The production of aravana prasadam will be raised to 2.50 lakh containers per day from two lakh and the manufacture of appam will be raised to 1.50 lakh packets a day from 1.20 lakh. Sabarimala devaswom executive officer Mohandas said that the measures were taken in view of the heavy demand by pilgrims for both the aravana and appam during the past few days of the pilgrimage season. Mohandas said that the heavy demand for Aravana prasadam of about 2.80 lakh containers a day during the past few days and a similar demand for the prasadam during the couple of days in the previous week lowered the buffer stock level of aravana prasadam to the current level of 12.50 lakh containers from 25 lakh containers. Hence the measures to enhance the production level, he said. Regarding appam, the buffer stock of the prasadam came down to one lakh packets from five lakh packets on the first day of the pilgrimage season. To ensure the availability, the daily production of the prasadam will be raised to 1.50 lakh from the present quantity of 1.25 packets, Mohandas said.
