THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CHIEF Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday inaugurated the 125th birth anniversary celebrations of former Chief Minister of Travancore-Cochin C Kesavan. The function was jointly organised by the Information and Public Relations Department and the C Kesavan Foundation.
In his inaugural speech, Vijayan said that Kesavan was part of Kerala history. He was a man who fought against all the evils in the society. Vijayan also mentioned that though Kesavan was a Congressman, he was attached to Communists, which was quite clear from his many stands. ‘’At one time, when he was released from prison during the freedom struggle, he insisted that he would only leave the jail if the Communists who were also jailed along with him were set free,’’ he said.
The Chief Minister also mentioned that if Kesavan had lived more, he would have become part of the Communist movement.
Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala said that Kesavan was a true Congressman till his last. Kesavan was a freedom fighter, a great administrator and a complete congressman, he said. Former CM Oommen Chandy said that Kesavan was loved by everyone as he was a man who always said what he felt right.
