Nepotism case against Jayarajan stayed by Kerala High court

KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Thursday stayed of one week a case against former industries minister E P Jayarajan and others related to alleged nepotism in appointments to key posts in statutory corporations and public sector units.

Additional chief secretary Paul Antony and Sudheer Nambiar, nephew of Jayarajan and son of CPM central committee member PK Sreemathy, are the other accused in the case.

The court issued the stay in response to a petition filed by Sudheer Nambiar seeking to quash the vigilance case.

The court also issued guidelines with regard to registering vigilances cases and made it clear that the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) need not interfere in issues other than corruption and misconduct.
