New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed the plea of Nehru Group Chairman P Krishna Das plea seeking relaxation in his bail condition and restrained him from entering Kerala until the trial in the death case of Jishnu Prannoy is over.

A bench of Justices M V Ramana and Amitava Roy also directed Kerala government to file report by tomorrow on the reasons why Jishnu Pranoy case has been referred to CBI.

“Has the CBI once ever tried to find out why the case was handed over to them by the Kerala government? Normally, a case is handed over to the CBI only when it merits the intervention of a central agency,” said the court.

During the hearing, counsel for Krishna Das pleaded for some relaxation and this led bench to observe, “We have not sent you to the forest. We have sent you to bordering state Tamil Nadu.”

The court observed that Krishna Das, accused in Jishnu Prannoy case, may influence the witnesses and mislead the case.

Krishna Das has moved the apex court seeking relaxation in his bail conditions and said that he needs to visit his ailing mother in Kerala.

The court was hearing the case of the death of Jishnu Prannoy and Shaheer Shaukat Ali, in which Nehru Group chairman P Krishnadas is an accused.

Jishnu Pranoy, a first-year B.Tech student was found hanging at the hostel of the Nehru College of Engineering and Research Centre, Pambady in Thrissur, in January this year.

The court had also directed the state government to produce the case diary before them.
