KANNUR: The hunger strike undertaken by senior Congress leader K Sudhakaran demanding a CBI probe into the murder of Youth Congress leader Shuhaib, completed the sixth day on Saturday.
As the stir continues, Sudhakaran’s health condition has worsened. On Saturday, a medical team from the district hospital examined Sudhakaran. The medical report states that the sodium level in his blood is decreasing and the blood pressure was high. The DMO’s report also recommended to shift him to the hospital. Though District Collector Mir Muhammad Ali and SP G Shiva Vikram held discussion with Congress leaders, he refused to end the stir.

The CPM campaign accusing some of the police officers and a section of the media of ‘manufacturing’ news in the wake of the Shuhaib murder is meant to torpedo the ongoing probe into the murder of the Youth Congress activist and prevent the free dissemination of news, said Sudhakaran.

He was reacting to reports the police are tapping the phone calls of reporters covering the Shuhaib murder case.  ‘The police will tap the calls of officers, reporters and politicians. They are tapping my phone also,” he said.

The CPM allegation was intended to discourage the sincere officers in the police force and to put breaks on the media who bring out new revelations regarding the case thereby putting the party in trouble, he said.
