THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP President Amit Shah who is on a whirlwind tour to Kerala on Tuesday has a tough task cut out for him.
He has to reign in the warring factions of the Kerala BJP which is at the throat of each other. Shah who has grandiose plans up his sleeves and with the policy of look southward for the BJP- The party expects a fair share of seats in next Lok sabha from South India- the rebellion in Kerala is disgusting and nauseating.
Sources in the BJP told Express "The visit of Amit Shah is primarily to charge up the party machinery ahead of the loksabha polls but he has a tough task ahead as the party system is not in place and party without a president for more than a month does not augur well for its growth”.
BJP which has done reasonably well in the last assembly elections, is now in political quagmire as there is no activity for the party workers in the last month ever since Kummanam Rajashekaran left the state and became governor of Mizoram.
With the name of Sreedharan Pillai gaining prominence after the secret survey conducted by the BJP in association with a Malayalam news channel, Amit Shah will be taking opinion from several corners including senior RSS pracharaks as well as former pracharaks who have grass root exposure. While the RSS leadership is reluctant to meet Amit Shah, the meeting may occur if BJP president reaches the RSS Karyalaya in Thiruvananthapuram.
It is clear that BJP President will take the final decision only after taking the state RSS leadership into confidence as it is the RSS which has the grass root presence in the state and without the support and blessings of the mentor,BJP cant do anything.. A senior pracharak of the RSS told Express” RSS does not interfere in the day to day activities of the BJP, however we have our opinion and we will air it in the concerned fora ”.
Another important factor which Amit Shah will have to take into consideration is the stand taken by the powerful NDA partner BDJS and its mentor the SNDP. Sources indicated that BDJS is also supportive of Sreedharan Pillai as he has an excellent rapport with the organisation since the past several years.
