BHUBANESWAR: Noted teacher Ananta Chandra Rath passed away here on Sunday. He was 84. Rath, who hailed from Binayaksasana in Nayagarh district, is survived by two sons and six daughters. His wife had predeceased him.

He started his career as a teacher in 1953 and went on to teach in schools across the districts __ from Nayagarh to Kalahandi.

A very popular teacher, he served as headmaster of Buxi Jagabandhu Bidyadhar (BJB) High School, Khurda, for a long time. He was also DI of Schools, Puri Education District. Rath retired as headmaster of Government Boys High School, Unit VI, here in 1986.
