Failure drives 3 girls to end life

Unable to cope with the poor performance in the High School Certificate Examination, two girls of Jajpur district allegedly committed suicide while another is battling for life.

Pratima Jena of Haripur High School under Bari block checked the results on the Internet in the morning and returned home after which she confined herself to a room in her house at Golkund village. When her parents searched for her during lunch time, they found Pratima hanging from the ceiling with a scarf tied around her neck.

Another girl, Subhashree Sahu of Padasahi Panchayat High School under Binjharpur block allegedly consumed poison at her house in Padasahi here around 1 pm.

Subhashree learnt about her failure after checking the results on the Internet.

When her family members noticed her condition,   they rushed Subhashree to district headquarters hospital where she was declared brought dead.

Another failed student, Babita Samal of Damodar Vidyapeeth at Achutpur under Dharmasala block allegedly consumed poison in her house in Bamphu. She was immediately rushed to a Community Health Centre at Dharmasala where she is battling for life.

BERHAMPUR: While success of Ganjma district students brought cheers, suicides cast a shadow on the celebrations.

Mami Gouda, a student of Government Girls’ High School at Digapahandi, ended her life by hanging.

After learning about the result she returned home and finding no one took the drastic step.

Police have recovered the  body and sent it for autopsy.
