TRW schools in a shambles

The 14 Tribal Welfare Residential (TRW) schools in the Rairakhol sub-division are in a mess. These 14 schools have 3,008 students in them.

Even as there are 68 teachers for the 14 schools, parents alleged that many of them  do not report for duty regularly.

Situation worsened to the extent that villagers of Mahakum locked the school in their village recently. The hostel attached to school is also of no use and food is being cooked and served in open for the students.

The situation in the TRW School at Girishchandrapur, established in 1942, is no different. Here, students allege  irregularities in providing them food. Although the Village Education Committee (VEC) had moved the Sambalpur  Collector and Secretary of SC & ST Development Department, Santosh Sarangi, a couple of months back, no visible action has been taken yet.

In Chatrapur TRW School, a teacher has  been remaining absent without any leave application, reflecting on education.

In TRW School hostel in Brahmanipali, there is no water supply for the 110 students staying in the hostel. Unfortunately, none of these irregularities is being looked into or officials visited to ascertain facts for themselves.
