Ten Held for Land Fraud

BHUBANESWAR: The City Police on Thursday arrested a gang of 10 fraudsters who sold a 26-acre patch of land in Satyabadi to two different persons.

From the two transactions, they made close to `1.5 crore. Two complaints were lodged in this connection.

The land, located at Sadanandpur village, was first sold to a Nayapalli-based builder for `25 lakh.

Later, the same property was sold to a retired headmaster for `1.2 crore. When the builder verified the land documents, he stumbled upon the truth and lodged a complaint with the police. The teacher also filed an FIR.

Police said Sukanta Parida and Prabhat Sahoo were masterminds of the fraud and had engaged the rest to sell the land.
