Odissi fusion regales dance lovers

BHUBANESWAR: Art lovers of the Temple City witnessed a delightful evening with promising Odissi dancers performing on the occasion of the 10th edition of 'Odissi Dance and Music Jugalbandi' here on Friday.

The annual programme, which is organised by City-based art organisation 'Mokshya', came up with eight unique performances by promising dancers from the State.

Jugalabandi is a initiative by Mokshya's founder Sujata Mishra where female artistes get an opportunity to choreograph and teach dance forms to performers.

''It is a platform where we experiment with formal aspect of the dance and music forms by keeping the tradition of Odissi intact,'' Mishra said.

Artistes Manisha Manaswini and Jagyandatta Pradhan performed on 'Siba Pancha', Dipika Priyadarshini and Prabhutosh Panda on 'Ardha-Nariswara', Debabrata Das and Sampurna Sahu on 'Suryastuti' and Sagar Khuntia and Anwesha Das performed on the dance form 'Pallavi'.

Four other pairs enthralled the audience with mystifying performances. The programme was inaugurated by Secretary of Odisha Sangeet Natak Academy Dhirendranath Mallick. Among others, former Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission chairman DK Roy and member of Mokshya Sanjukta Mishra were present
